It's also light, making it easy to move around the house during nap time and for travelling.

We love that it's constructed from soft materials with breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and ease of use. It comes in oak or charcoal with a range of melange fabrics that will blend with a variety of styles. Anna found that it was solid and secure when it was attached to her bed. The legs slid into place and the zippers were secure for security. It took her around 10 minutes to put together and did not require tools, and comes with clear instructions and a video or support number if you run into any problems.

The CoZee crib comes with all the features you would think of in a crib for your bedside, including the ability to attach it to your existing bed using a stay-in-place connection system. It also comes with six height settings. In addition, there is an incline feature that can be used to assist babies suffering from reflux or congestion. It's also machine washable, a must with all the dribble and vomit that comes with having a new baby!

The CoZee is an excellent choice if you want to keep your child close during the first six months of acquiring the ability to sleep independently. It can be used as a cot, changing station and toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa bed extension kit, it can be transformed into an bed. While it won't feed your baby or magically sleep them it will gently rock them to send them off!

The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of the more expensive models, but it comes with a lot of features. It can be used either a side-sleeper or a standalone crib and is suitable for babies from birth to six months. It's easy to open and close the side panel using a new mechanism. It's also more flexible than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels and retractable feet for a secure fit under any bed.

Our testers were impressed with the simple access the side panel provides that can be flipped up and down by pressing the button. This was particularly useful at night, as they could reach inside and pick up their baby without waking them up.

It is possible to lower the side panel by it's own, however this is not recommended because it increases the chance that your child could be thrown out of the cot. But, the patented safety locking mechanism guarantees that it can only remain in place if it is connected to the bed of the parent correctly. This is a wonderful feature to have for peace of mind, particularly in the case of breastfeeding and frequent feedings at night.

Telescopic legs permit the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers. It also has tilting functions for babies with reflux and a rocking mode that can soothe them back to sleep after feeding. It is also very spacious and provides excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.

Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it does have quite an extensive instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than other side-sleepers but it's easily moved from one area to another. It can also be folded into a travel bedside crib bag which is great for those who want to transport it. The only issue our testers have found is that the side panel did not flex as much compared to other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to observe your baby from the bed.

The Shnuggle Air

The Shnuggle Air bedside crib is an excellent choice when you're looking for an infant crib that will grow with your child. It's a co-sleeping crib that is securely attached to your bed and can be turned into a chic cot when your baby is old enough. Ideal for feeding at night and strengthening the bond you have with your newborn.

In contrast to other models of bedside crib like the Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. Its dual-view mesh sides and breathable, hypo-allergenic airflow mattress increase airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle incline helps reduce colic and reflux. The zip-down side lets you to feed your baby, or even comfort them during the night.

The kit for conversion to cot (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you require to start. It took us about an hour to assemble, and was reasonably straightforward. The only issue with the instructions was that certain pictures did not have captions. This made it difficult to follow. However, overall it was a simple procedure and the quality of the materials used was high.

In the co-sleeping position, we discovered the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent option for breastfeeding mothers and women who have had a c-section since it allows them to easily reach out to their newborn to feed and comfort them without having to leave their bed. It's also great for those who want to avoid the hassle of getting into and out of a traditional cot, or placing their child down for a nap.

During our testing we noticed the smooth motion of the next-to-me crib to be extremely helpful when it comes to helping babies fall asleep after midday and nighttime feeds. The drop-down side is also easily accessible to feed or soothe babies in the middle of the night, which was a real draw for our exhausted test moms. The Joie Roomie Glide is a modern and stylish crib that isn't rocking, nor has extra features like a sound machine.
