Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is among the Best item upgrader ways to improve your gear without relying upon large-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus is based on the upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons stronger. You can get them from fighting off enemies, locating them in spheres of items or buying them from karma dealers. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them, or through an advanced salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components aren't destroyed when you remove them from the item.

Upgrade components are mostly used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to increase the level or the amount of experience gained by upgrading equipment or weapons. They can be forged to give additional benefits. For instance, a crafted glyph will boost the chances of upgrading its target, and a boost upgrade will boost the defense or attack attribute of a weapon or armor.

Selecting an upgrade template in the GUI will allow you to connect it to an item. It will display the list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component has its own experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item gains when upgraded with that component. For instance, organic components give more experience multipliers than mechanical ones. You should upgrade your organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment, and then move on to mechanical upgrades.

In addition to the multiplier for experience every item also has the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades is determined by the upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. The most powerful upgrade is a weapon of the tier 10. However, the most common upgrades for weapons are a tier 6 weapon and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a collection of items which all have the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at the least once. The upgrade increases the bonuses that are guaranteed. The first time you upgrade an item or set piece will give it a +1 increase to its primary stat. Following upgrades, the primary stats are boosted even further (for instance, +1 for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded one of its additional stats increases randomly.

Upgrades can also boost a weapon's damage base. This may be important for certain types of weapons. Weapons aren't upgraded to give greater maximum defence rolls than their base. It is possible to increase the value of certain set and unique items by upgrading them, however they may not always be better than a Runeword with a high level.

A player can reroll any item acquired during the game, provided they have enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. When an Best item upgrader is rerolled it will be replaced with a level 1 version in another set. Reroll tokens are sold at the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They are non-refundable. The upgraded item will still have the extra benefits of the previous one however, its stats will differ as well.

Players can change the identity of their equipment as well as rolling it again by interacting with an NPC upgrader. This will change its identification as a weapon to armor, or vice versa.
