Door Handle Replacement

It's worth it to replace door handles if you don't like the way they look, or if they're difficult to use. With some patience, you can install an entirely new handle in a short time.

Modern door handles are often equipped with cover plates which hide the screws, giving them an attractive appearance. If your new handle does not have screws already connected, you'll have to attach them separately.

The latch plate should easily be removed from the door once the screws have been removed. If the latch plate is stuck or won't move, use a small file to scrape the edges. This may help free the plate.

Now, you can proceed to preparing the new door strike plate for installation. With the screws made of wood that were included with your new handles, screw the latch plate onto the inside of the doorjamb. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws, as this may cause damage to the strike plate.
